Hello I am a student of Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT), Gandhinagar, India. I am really interested in going for GSoC 2014. I would like to contribute to MariaDB community and for it to be my mentoring organisation for GSoC 2014. I am highly dedicated towards programming and research. [Maria-discuss] New Question: Asynchronous Replication with Galera Cluster ?

Hello, A new question has been asked in "Galera" by nicolasblanc: -------------------------------- My question is simple. Today i have a Galera Cluster with 3 nodes to write/read. And i want to put one(more to come) slave (asynchronous replication) to the cluster. As all my writes are located on 1 node, it's ok. But if i change the node on which the writes come... My slave is not synchronized anymore. I had to change the master of the slave to have the new written node as master. It seems that each galera node write only transactions from "real client" to replication binary log, not the ones from wsrep. Is there a way that i can ask to a Galera cluster node to always write commited transaction on the replication binary log ? Even if the transaction come from wsrep and not "real client" ? I occasionally found this in a Google search: http://www.google.nl/patents/US8510270 What does this mean? Are anybody able to explain what the patent covers that has not been used in MySQL replication for 10+ years before the patent? Hi all, We have a lot of SHOW INDEX FROM queries coming from our ORM layer. Usually there is a mechanism to prevent this but it doesn't seem to work at the moment. To better analyze the problem it would be helpful if we could see how many such queries happened on a server. Is there a counter or a statistic which can provide us this information? i have for at least 5 years a backup server with two mysql-instances * one replication instance listening on port 3307 * one "live" service * a script once a hour stop both instances and rsync replication->live * after that start both intances again * looking at the mysqld logs i am pretty sure there is nothing wrong and only the non.zero response causes systemd to restart the daemon one time well, with MariaDB on Fedora 19 systemd cries about failing service at the same time there is nothing in the mysql-errorlog (both instances using the same) the systemd-units are configured to restart the daemon again if it fails what replaces the mysqld_safe scripts and is done this way unchanged since summer 2011 with MySQL 5.5.x has anybody an idea what causes the "mysqld.service" instance to respond with status 1 instead 0 causing systemd to consider the service as failed while there is nothing uncommon in the mysqld-logs? the "Error reading relay log event: slave SQL thread was killed" as well as "Error reading packet from server" are not relevant in that context because they are from the not failing "replication.service" and normal due shutdown the slave (well, i dislike "error" in that context, but that's OT) interesting is that i have 3 machine-pairs with the 100% identical logic two of them are failing this way nearly every hour (backup schedule 60 minutes) while the one with 5000 tables is running perfect all the time any information i could provide additional to the logs and configs below? ___________________________________________________________________________ Jan 7 20:21:04 localhost backups: stop replication service Jan 7 20:21:04 localhost systemd[1]: Stopping MySQL Replication... The documentation currently warns against using Galera with Fedora [1]. Is that advice still true with Fedora 19+, which defaults to MariaDB? I can see some activity in the bug tracker [2], but nothing the last few months. In a related topic, when are RPMs for Fedora 20 [3] planned? Is there any way I can sponsor work to improve the situation?
