Hello, A new question has been asked in "CONNECT Table Types" by nobswolf: -------------------------------- I tried to create a pivot table based on an existing table "test1" and get an error. I am logged in and I can use "test1", so this error makes no sense to me. What I am doing wrong? Any hints? [Maria-discuss] postfixadmin and mariadb, want to add support for user 'groups'

Hello all, We have a postfixadmin+mariadb sql database we have been using for many, many years (well, only recently migrated from mysql to mariadb, and it was totally transparent, so thanks for that!). This system is rock solid, and we have no desire to change it. We are in the process of setting up SOGo groupware, amd have run into a stumbling block. Not a show stopper, but it definitely put a heavy burden on me, as the SysAdmin. SOGo can Active Directory just fine for testing Group Memberships for purposes of applying ACLs (for shared calendars, contacts, etc)... We intentionally do not use SSO - we enforce very strong email passwords, but allow much weaker AD computer passwords - so email AUTH happens with our SQL DB. The problem is, SOGo does not have support for using 'Groups' for ACLs when using SQL for the AUTH backend. It also does not (yet) have support for different AUTH and USER DB backends. So, as things stand now, I'm going to have to manually add every single individual userid to every single resource they will need to have access too, rather than just doing this with groups. So, my first questions is, has anyone every come up with a decent schema that provides for managing user groups in the same way as AD groups that scales reasonably well? I'm very dangerous when it comes to this stuff, so can't even attempt this myself, but I have some options available to help get this done, especially if I can get some help/advice with getting started. One thing I do know is the SOGo guy had to create a 'View' to use, so whatever we end up using will have to work inside a View (probably displaying my ignorance to the world with that comment - is pretty much everything in an SQL DB compatible with 'Views'?)... I'd dearly appreciate any help anyone is willing to give... Thanks, Charles

Hello, A new question has been asked in "MariaDB community" by asifcyberdome: -------------------------------- unable to START MySQL server at BOOT "systemctl enable mysqld.service" does not work I am running FEDORA 20 and I have MySQL installed or the replacement MariaDB. same difference. I am able to do everything correcty. Everything works, except when I run the command: "systemctl enable mysqld.service", It gives me error "failed to issue method call: no such file or directory." Is this a known issue? Is this a known BUG? Is there a way to fix this? I am running Fedora 20 MySQL/MariaDB 5.5 version. [Maria-discuss] New Question: V5.5.36 will only use default data directory

Hello, A new question has been asked in "MariaDB community" by mdavies5: -------------------------------- I installed v5.5.36 on a new Mint16 installation and it started ok. I then modified my.cnf to point to an existing data directory. I made sure that all folders and files were owned by mysql user and the mysql group had permissions to read/write. I also deleted existing files ib_logfile0/1, ibdata1 and aria_log_control as I know these must be recreated. When restarting MariaDb I get: Can't create/write to file '/home/michael/mysql/aria_log_control' (Errcode: 13). Files ib_logfile0 & 1 and ibdata1 were created ok so it is not a permissions problems. Why does only aria_log_control fail to create. After this i copied the tables once again to be sure files are not fragmented, etc. SHOW WARNINGS returns nothing in both cases. Hi! I am happy to announce that the MariaDB Foundation is organising a MariaDB & MySQL community event in Santa Clara on Thursday the 3rd of April. The venue is the Hilton Santa Clara hotel, a short walk from the Percona Live 2014 event. You can find more information on my blog at: http://monty-says.blogspot.fi/2014/03/mariadb-mysql-community-event-2014-in… We already got some very interesting talks and speakers, but I would like to see even more talk proposals. It's ok to propose a talk that it's also hold at Percona Live. As this event is free, I expect a totally different group of attendees, so that should be fine! When we have got a nice list of proposed talks, we will post them here so that everyone has a chance of commenting of which talks should be accepted. (Sorry, but this time we don't have time to create a proper selection committee so we have to do this a bit rough) Personally I will talk about MariaDB 10.0, which should be declared stable by then.
