[Maria-discuss] New Question: crash recovery

Hello, A new question has been asked in "Backing Up and Restoring" by joemurray: -------------------------------- An XtraDB database running in MariaDB - no cluster, no replication - has been crashing about 15 x per day for 3 days and we suspect it may be corrupt. We don't see any reason in the log files for the crashes. We have taken a mysqldump and restored into a new db and run mysqlcheck on the new db and not fond any errors, but I suspect that the dumping and restoring has hidden them. After testing a staging site with this new database we are planning to repeat the process of dumping and restoring into a new db and then making it live. I intend to run mysqlcheck on the production database once it is no longer in production. Hello, A new question has been asked in "MariaDB Documentation" by eddow: -------------------------------- Greetings, I am attempting to set up Multi Master Replication. So far, I have been able to set up multiple masters and data is replicated to one slave. This works great. What I am having a problem with is if I add a new master. When I add the master the data in the slave table is truncated and only the data from the new master is replicated. I loose all my old data in the slave. [Maria-discuss] Does ADD/DROP INDEX update the InnoDB buffer pool?

Hi all, When adding or dropping a primary and/or secondary index is the InnoDB buffer pool updated too? Is the pool changed in place or will the LRU algo just evict to make room? In the second case buffers of other tables on the server might be affected too and the server would run with a more or less cold buffer pool. We have to fiddle with indices on production servers, which by itself is a precarious matter. So I tried to find out how ADD/DROP INDEX operations affect the memory/buffer pool of our servers. Since I wasn't able (or too stupid) to find something about this topic it would be great if someone could help me out and point me in the right direction. BTW: Version is MariaDB 5.5 Cheers, Shorty
