Hello, Is this script supposed to be runnable as a normal (i.e., non-root) user? In MySQL 5.6 there is logic that prevents the chown() of the mysql data dir when running as non-root. MariaDB 10.1.8 doesn’t seem to have this logic, so the script fails when chown() fails. Is this change intended? We have tests that verify functionality of user-created, UNIX-socket-only MySQL/MariaDB servers. These work on MySQL 5.6 but not on MariaDB 10.1. Here is the command-line output: --------------- ~/temp $ /usr/bin/mysql_install_db --datadir=mysqldata chown: changing ownership of `mysqldata': Operation not permitted Cannot change ownership of the database directories to the 'mysql' user. Hello, I’ve found an apparent discrepancy between MySQL 5.6 and MariaDB 10.1. When you GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES on a DB to a user/host that is not in the mysql.users table, MariaDB 10.1 throws ER_PASSWORD_NO_MATCH, whereas MySQL 5.6 creates the user/host entry. Is this by design? I don’t see the behavior discussed at https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/grant/. Thank you for your time! If you are talking about donations to the foundation (not the company) I agree that it's a great idea. If small donations are welcome, many people will probably donate (and I'm one of them). Just a hint: maybe you could even advertise merchandising in the download page. [Maria-discuss] Compiling maxscale

Hi, When I try to compile maxscale, the classifier won't compile because it needs server headers. How do I tell it where to find the source. It uses multiple headers in multiple directories so adding the server source via a simple -I to CXXFLAGS doesn't work. Am I missing something? Sent from my iPhone

It seems like certain errors are detected and returned as such, and others are not. For example, a *.sql file of completely random bytes will set the Windows ERRORLEVEL=1 after failing, reporting the following error: ERROR: ASCII '\0' appeared in the statement... Another *.sql file that references an unknown database will set the Windows ERRORLEVEL=0, but still textually report an error after failing: ERROR 1049 (42000) at line 1 in file... Any ideas? Hi all, I have a galera cluster of 4 MariaDB server and sometimes a node fail. But when a node fail, others nodes doesn't want to respond to query. I have in log : "MYSQL: query failed: WSREP has not yet prepared node for application use" It's really embarrassing, because it happen like once a week. Is there a parameter to modify to get this working even when split brain ? Like If 2 of the 4 server are ok, I can still make query ? Hi, I'm trying to debug a mariadb failure on a machine in Holland. It seems mysql_install_db doesn't work for some folders, but does for others (e.g. c:\temp\db). We've typed exactly the same thing into the Dutch machine as my UK machine. On the UK machine it works fine, on the dutch machine it claims to work, but the mysql folder is empty on completion (and sunsequently the database doesn't start for obvious reasons). I've asked the guy in Holland to check folder write permissions on the parent folders created, and obviously the logged in user must be the owner as they are created with mkdir (see below): =========================================================== Dutch machine: =========================================================== Microsoft Windows [versie 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. For those who are interested in containers, I'd like to share a Docker image that we've produced in Red Hat in cooperation with OpenShift guys. And will be really glad for any feedback you have. The image can be used in OpenShift or run directly. In client/mysqldump.c, there is a command: mysql_real_escape_string(mysql, db_name_buff, db, strlen(db)); … which appears to be doubling up and backslashes in the database name when the “--routines” argument is passed to mysqldump. This bug affects MySQL 5.7.9 (and back at least to 5.1); I’ve filed a MySQL bug here: https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=78932 -FG

Hi, I was speaking to Otto (CEO, MariaDB Foundation) and discussing that we should move the lists from Launchpad to something else. We obviously want to preserve the archives, and this isn’t going to happen overnight (something like an aim by the end of the year). Would you be ok with running on Google Groups? Would you prefer being on Mailman? Do you have another self-hosted or (preferably free) hosted solution as your preference? Today, we have several lists (maria-discuss, maria-developers, maria-docs) that are hosted on Launchpad. We also have a few lists (ambassadors, announce, commits, mirroring, maria-buildbot-reports) hosted on Mailman at lists.askmonty.org. I've recently attempted to backup my tables and have been faced with a "Couldn't execute 'show events': Cannot proceed because system tables used by Event Scheduler were found damaged at server start (1577)". I've browsed the web and the "mysql_upgrade" command is regularly touted; however, this doesn't appear to be on my TS-410. I've also attempted restarting the server via the TS-410 web interface. I approached QNAP who responded they were unable to assist. Which leads me here. Has anyone encountered a similar or same scenario? And able to provide assistance in resolving? Using the socket variable in server.cnf or even in my.cnf does not appear to honor the varable. I've tried placing the variable setting in various locations in the server.cnf file, but nothing seems to work. The socket file is always created in /var/lib/mysql, or the database has problems starting up. Where else do I search for this? Could it have been compiled in by accident? If I try this with MySQL 5.6 Community version it works without issue - I placed the variable in /etc/my.cnf file under [mysqld] Again, I'm using the non enterprise version of MariaDB 10.0.21 with RHEL 6.6. Hey guys, I trying to get up running a galera cluster with IPv6 But right know, it's not working. I'm trying to join the cluster with node 2 and the rsync sst isn't listening on IPv6. Both using the BUILD/compile_solaris_spac, cmake . -DBUILD_CONFIG=mysql_release and just going through regular config script. Compiling in 32bit wasn't an issue, but I need a 64bit installation. Hi I'm trying to understand why InnoDB locks two next-key intervals higher than needed. If you try to run conn-a.sql from one connection, and then run conn-b.sql from other connection, conn-b.sql would be locked. I have a feeling that it locks two next-key intervals: (5 to 7 and 7 to positive infinity). Because I can insert values higher than 7 in conn-b only if condition is WHERE n <= 4 (or lower than 4). TokuDB locks just one next-key interval (with WHERE n <= 7, TokuDB locks from -infinity to +infinity, but with condition WHERE n <= 6, it locks from -infinity to 6). Please help me to understand why ever both engines need to lock gap after the upper end of range scan. And why InnoDB needs to lock even two next-key gaps. I am trying to get some software installed but am running into problems. I have created a database and user for that database, but when I run the software it cannot connect to the database. The user I created was on the database sam I used the command MySQL -u sam -p'sam's password' sam's database I get access denied for user 'sam'@'localhost' I used the command "grant all privileges on newdb.* to sam@localhost;" I also did a "grant usage on *.* to sam@localhost identified by 'sams password'; Is there something I am doing wrong? The nodes are all SUSE (SLES) 12. I have copied the mysqld_multi script form /usr/bin to /etc/init.d to enable the startup and shutdown of all the databases when the system starts and stops. Problem I'm having is that if I use mysqld_mult stop/start (to stop/start them all) only one or two will actually stop/start the rest just won't work. But I f I start/stop them one at a time with a few seconds delay between commands it works just fine. So what I'm looking to do is to modify the mysqld_multi script to add a 5 sec delay in between each instances start/stop. Just not where the best place in the script to do this. Hello all, I am running MariaDB 10.1.5 with Sysbench 0.5 (lua) against an IBM Blade (Haswell) using Hitachi 15K SAS Hdd's. Operating system is RHEL 7. Hyperthreading is turned off. System memory is 48GB. Up to now, I have ran extensive Sysbench tests against MariaDB using RAM as the datastore with no appreciable problems. Now I have switched the datastore to normal disk (see above) and am seeing the Sysbench R/W TPS rate take a hit after approximately 3 minutes (180 seconds) into the run (runtime is 600 seconds) and every three minutes thereafter. I am seeing nothing in the MariaDB logs (error and Slow queries), nor in Linux itself, nor is Sysbench telling me anything (I have debug rurned on and verbosity set to 5).
