hi guys, i hit a problem in this exact second... some programs are running and i want to kill only one big query well i executed kill 17143 ok.. but when i execute this command, the query was done, and starting a second query... in other words... i killed the wrong query could we add a hash information to kill, to make it more secure and precise? for example... kill 17143 md5 "123456789......." where md5 = id + start time of query + others informations to make it relative unique maybe it exists and i don't know... any other idea how to solve this? thanks -- Roberto Spadim

Hi guys, i was reading some time ago about memcache (i use it for a long time ~5years or more) and the handler socket plugin Why we don't implement it at mariadb client? instead of a second library to add nosql, why not implement a built in lib? for example... (pseudo functions...) mysql_connect ... (connect to database and have permission handling...) mysql_select_db ... select the schema being used mysql_query ... execute a query command (SQL QUERIES) mysql_fetch ... get a row mysql_num_rows .. get number of rows now the nosql... mariadb_handler_socket_openindex( handler socket parameters ) mariadb_handler_socket_query mariadb_handler_socket_fetch mariadb_handler_socket_close mariadb_memcache_get mariadb_memcache_set ... this make mariadb a sql/nonsql database with a single user/permission schema, and a nice language set (SQL, handler socket, memcache, redis, drizzle, hadoop, mongodb or others...) in this case we can use the mysql protocol, but instead of sending a QUERY command, we send a "MARIADB" command, and a new parameter telling what mariadb command it is, this can be used with mysql/mariadb/percona, when used with others database probably the database will report a wrong command message but we can contact mysql to reserve a command id to "others uses", and have compatibility with any mysql fork... but the point is... instead of many connections (3-> mariadb, handler socket write, handler socket read, or 2 -> mariadb, memcached) we have only one 1-> mariadb comments are wellcome, any idea why not implement this instead of many different protocol libs? -- Roberto Spadim

hi guys, i have a very big aria log file how could i change it to don't get sooo big? how could i reduce it size? could i delete it? Hi guys, I was thinking about a new kind of plugin, a field type plugin... i think it's a relative interesting idea... about sintax: ALTER TABLE table ADD field PLUGIN("plugin_name","version","field_type","parameters") NOT NULL/NULL DEFAULT 'something' AUTOINCREMENT, etc.. an example... ALTER TABLE table ADD field PLUGIN("crypt","1","somecrypto","size=255") NOT NULL DEFAULT 'something' internally (to storage engine) this kind of data will be saved as blob (for example), and to client side it will be a blob too when i use: insert into table(field) values ("some text"); and select * from table i will get "some text" but internally (at filesystem) the value is save as a crypto of "some text" --- other idea is compress ADD field PLUGIN("crypt","1","compress","size=255") NOT NULL DEFAULT 'something' internally it will be saved as varchar(255), when i execute insert it will compress the value and when i select it will uncompress the value the parameters for this new field type is: PLUGIN(plugin name, plugin version, plugin field name, parameters) plugin name is the plugin name... plugin version is important to execute alter table, or when using diferent kind of plugin versions we could know what version is being used and execute a automatic alter table for example... plugin field is the type of field in this plugin parameters are parameters for plugin values another idea is a enum with external table... ADD field PLUGIN("external_enum",'1','enum','table=database.table,id=field_id,value=field_value') it will execute a SELECT internally to table "database.table" and return the id/value of that table id is a bigint/int/mediumint/smallint/tinyint value (like enum index) and value is a string value (varchar,char,longtext,text) to storage engine will be used a bigint, for user it will be used as a enum() field ------ thre's more examples with interesting things, like expand opengis, or add others kind of field types, but the main idea is create a plugin interface for field types what you say guys? bye =) -- Roberto Spadim

Hi All. I have: - one devel application server with php53-mysql-5.3.27-1 MariaDB-compat-5.5.32-1.x86_64 MariaDB-common-5.5.32-1.x86_64 MariaDB-shared-5.5.32-1.x86_64 MariaDB-client-5.5.32-1.x86_64 - one devel database server with MariaDB-compat-5.5.30-1.x86_64 MariaDB-server-5.5.30-1.x86_64 MariaDB-common-5.5.30-1.x86_64 MariaDB-shared-5.5.30-1.x86_64 MariaDB-client-5.5.30-1.x86_64 When I try to make a connection from devel to database server with php mysql_connect function then when I am using: - user with local authentication: connection is ok; - user with pam/ldap authentication I get error "Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MariaDB client error 1251" When I use mysql command on application server I can connect to the database server with both users, so only php does not work. Have you got similar issues? Any clues anout how to solve the problem? Best regards, Rafal Radecki.

Hello, A new question has been asked in "Replication, Cluster, & Multi-Master" by confidus: -------------------------------- I am in the very early stages of testing out our Galara cluster with innodb databases. I have a tool that is comparing data against each node on the cluster and I have found that timestamps seem to be the only thing that is inconstant and by exactly 5 hours. I have a record in a Galera cluster that has a field with date time. I took one database and started comparing each table (one by one). I had several thousand records with different timestamps. An example is 2013-07-03 11:13:59, but another server, the date time is 2013-07-03 16:13:59. I would suspect that the times would be synced everywhere exactly the same. Hello, A new question has been asked in "FLUSH commands" by h725: -------------------------------- i have looking for info how to 'read' info which are the hosts that hit the max_connect_errors. I have found there was a patch of Jeremy Cole, but i have not found anything for Mariadb.
