Hi, 1- Is MariaDb Enterprise open source software (and all its components and modules? 2- Regarding the Spider engine: the feature allows 2 spider tables from different servers to share each of them partitions from a master spider which hold those partitions? please give some explainations Thanks

Hi, In current MariaDB versions, InnoDB has 2 types of tablespaces: * system tablespace * per-table tablespace There is a variable called innodb_file_per_table, you can change it at runtime. When a new table is created with innodb_file_per_table=1, the table has its own tablespace (an .ibd file in the database directory, which contains both data and indexes). When a table is created while innodb_file_per_table=0, it is written into the system tablespace. The system tablespace also contains other information, like the InnoDB data dictionary, un logs, etc. I see no particular advantage in creating new tables into the system tablespace - I consider it a feature inherited from old versions, when there were no alternatives. Remembers that the system tablespace never shrinks, even if you drop a table. Also, when using a dedicated tablespace, you can decide where the new table will be placed (see CREATE TABLE options). And you can backup only some tables, if you want to. This also enables table compression and encryption. In MySQL 5.7, you can group multiple tables into one tablespace - which means, not necessarily the system tablespace. From what I see in this page, I think (and hope) and this feature will also be in MariaDB 10.2: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/plans-for-10x/ Other storage engines don't have tablespaces: a table is stored in a file (or in 2 files, if data and indexes are stored separately). Hi, Almost everytime when I join node to Galera cluster (MariaDB 10.1.13) I'm getting an error after SST: 2016-04-13 21:09:37 139932281419712 [Note] Recovering after a crash using /var/log/mysql/mariadb-bin 2016-04-13 21:09:37 139932281419712 [ERROR] Binlog file '/var/log/mysql/mariadb-bin.000023' not found in binlog index, needed for recovery. Either correct the problem (if it's, for example, out of memory error) and restart, or delete (or rename) binary log and start mysqld with --tc-heuristic-recover={commit|rollback} 2016-04-13 21:09:37 139932281419712 [ERROR] Can't init tc log 2016-04-13 21:09:37 139932281419712 [ERROR] Aborting As I see, almost every SST rotates a log file and downloads last (in example above I have mariadb-bin.000024), and not previous. But for recovering it needs previous. Sometimes I'm lucky and it restores. Anyone knows why it rotates a log and is it possible to force it to load more than last log file? Igor Mazur

Hi, I was speaking to Hartmut a few days ago and he mentioned that he really did like the idea of postgresql’s /contrib feature. From postgresql/contrib: This subtree contains porting tools, analysis utilities, and plug-in features that are not part of the core PostgreSQL system, mainly because they address a limited audience or are too experimental to be part of the main source tree. This does not preclude their usefulness. (https://github.com/postgres/postgres/tree/master/contrib) Should we consider doing this for MariaDB Server? Have more tools that people might benefit from, but not spend much time on it? [Maria-discuss] Monitoring InnoDB tables?

Hi list, I'm developing a fast data synchronization tool and need to monitor some tables in a customer's MariaDB (10.1) server for changes. I only have access to the server as a MariaDB client (no filesystem access). Ideally, I would keep a connection open and poll every few seconds - AFAIK, it's not possible for e.g. a stored procedure to notify a listener external to MariaDB. The tables have no 'timestamp' or other columns I can do MAX() on to check for updates. The database is used as a backend for some proprietary software, so I can't just ask the customer to add an autoincrement column. With MyISAM, I could look at UPDATE_TIME in information_schema.tables (and live with the full-second resolution) or ask the customer to "alter table t1 checksum=1;" so I can use "checksum table t1 quick;". None of these work with InnoDB, and "checksum table t1;" is too slow for large tables. I've seen suggestions to use NUM_ROWS and MODIFIED_COUNTER in information_schema.innodb_sys_tablestats, but it's unreliable for me in a number of cases, e.g. if the number of rows is the same but contents are different.
