[Maria-discuss] New Question: field looks weird using select *

Hello, A new question has been asked in "MariaDB Documentation" by martyheitzmann: -------------------------------- I just started using mariadb. I created two tables so far : the first one - no issues. But, when I try to select * from the 2nd table, the primary key field looks incomplete: +--------+--------+---------------+----------------+ | teamid | league | teamname1 | teamname2 | +--------+--------+---------------+----------------+ | | A | Anaheim | Angels |ARI | N | Arizona | Diamondbacks | | N | Atlanta | Braves | | A | Baltimore | Orioles | | A | Boston | Red Sox | | A | Chicago | White Sox | N | Chicago | Cubs ... (look past the copy/paste formatting issues please) The teamid column is not printed out for every teamid, and based on the '|' separator, it looks like the field has different lengths, but it's just a char(3) fixed-length. I tried defining the field as nvarchar(3), and char(3), with the same results. I thought it had to do with the file from which the data was imported, but it contains no control characters. [Maria-discuss] New Question: Historical data, nightly snapshots

Hello, A new question has been asked in "MariaDB Documentation" by bjquinn: -------------------------------- I have an application where I need to take nightly snapshots of a large InnoDB database (10s of GB) and then have them available to be queried alongside the current data. My underlying filesystem is (or at least can be) ZFS, so actually creating the snapshots is easy enough. But how do I connect to the files contained in the snapshot so that I can query the tables via MariaDB? If it's easier through another storage engine, I could consider that, though I do need row locking in the current data. Hi, It only seems to happen when replicating DROP TABLE IF NOT EXISTS from a master, not when running it directly on that server. I can replicate this problem every time. [Maria-discuss] Aborted connection (Unknown error)

Hi all, I'm getting annoying errors when I want to switch clients from MySQL to MariaDB. I use Debian Wheezy, and MariaDB 10.0 repositories, then I install mariadb-common & libmariadbclient. Then I restart services using MySQL Client Library and I have a lot of warnings like these on my MariaDB Server (with Galera or not) : [Warning] Aborted connection 136305 to db: 'db' user: 'user' host: 'xx.xx.xx.xx' (Unknown error) I do not have more information in logs. This is not a network problem, because it occurs with 127.0.0.1 too. What do I miss ? Thank you a lot. Florent

[Maria-discuss] Possible? upgrading gallera cluster without service interruption

Hello We would like to upgrade from 5.5.33a+maria-1~saucy to 5.5.39+maria-1~saucy on a running cluster without service interruption. So we took down one node, upgraded and restarted that instance... It fails to connect to the next gcomm server. MariaDB fails to start. We tested network connectivity, there is no issue we could detect. We downgraded back to 5.5.33a+maria-1~saucy and the connectivity issue disappeared. So my question here is: Is it possible to upgrade the cluster without interruption, or do we have to shut the whole cluster down, upgrade every node and then restart everything?
