[Maria-discuss] Moving from Launchpad lists to something else... ?

Hi, I was speaking to Otto (CEO, MariaDB Foundation) and discussing that we should move the lists from Launchpad to something else. We obviously want to preserve the archives, and this isn’t going to happen overnight (something like an aim by the end of the year). Would you be ok with running on Google Groups? Would you prefer being on Mailman? Do you have another self-hosted or (preferably free) hosted solution as your preference? Today, we have several lists (maria-discuss, maria-developers, maria-docs) that are hosted on Launchpad. We also have a few lists (ambassadors, announce, commits, mirroring, maria-buildbot-reports) hosted on Mailman at lists.askmonty.org. Being new to MariaDB, I'm unsure if this is the correct forum to pose my question. Please forgive and forward me in the right direction if it is not :) I've recently upgraded from MySQL to MariaDB on my QNAP TS-410 server and commenced using. I've recently attempted to backup my tables and have been faced with a "Couldn't execute 'show events': Cannot proceed because system tables used by Event Scheduler were found damaged at server start (1577)". I've browsed the web and the "mysql_upgrade" command is regularly touted; however, this doesn't appear to be on my TS-410. I've also attempted restarting the server via the TS-410 web interface. I approached QNAP who responded they were unable to assist. Which leads me here. Has anyone encountered a similar or same scenario? And able to provide assistance in resolving? Hi all, I’m seeing a version string like this from the server in the initial handshake: 5.5.5-10.1.16-MariaDB Why does MariaDB negotiate with a different-format version string than MySQL? Is this documented somewhere? -FG

Hello, A new question has been asked in "MariaDB Community" by bits45. Please answer it at http://mariadb.com/kb/en/cannot-change-socket-location-in-10021/ as the person asking the question may not be subscribed to the mailing list. -------------------------------- I'm trying to change the socket file location to anything other than /var/lib/mysql on Red Hat 6.6 x64. Using the socket variable in server.cnf or even in my.cnf does not appear to honor the varable. I've tried placing the variable setting in various locations in the server.cnf file, but nothing seems to work. The socket file is always created in /var/lib/mysql, or the database has problems starting up. Where else do I search for this? Could it have been compiled in by accident? If I try this with MySQL 5.6 Community version it works without issue - I placed the variable in /etc/my.cnf file under [mysqld] Again, I'm using the non enterprise version of MariaDB 10.0.21 with RHEL 6.6. Hey guys, I trying to get up running a galera cluster with IPv6 But right know, it's not working. I'm trying to join the cluster with node 2 and the rsync sst isn't listening on IPv6. Hi guys, I have a program wrote in c#, it process some code and the result is a struct (an array of string/double/int) I want to include this program inside mariadb server as a daemon plugin (to process data) + a storage engine (to read struct data) is that possible? considering that i can write dll with .net? what about write this to linux (.so files) ? any help is very very very welcome -- Roberto Spadim
