[Maria-discuss] Glibc 2.3 support in MariaDB builds ?

Hi, I'm trying to push my company to adopt MariaDB 5.2. Unfortunately, the currently available binaries (at least for the x86-64 version) requires a glibc 2.4, where we have only a 2.3 version (debian etch) installed on our server. MySQL 5.5 standard binaries, as well as Percona's one perfectly support glibc 2.3, so is there any plan to provide glibc 2.3 compatible binaries for MariaDB ? Thanks and regards, Jocelyn Fournier

MariaDB 5.2.4 tarball is missing the SphinxSE plug.in file in storage/sphinx. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, so I thought I might point it out.

Actually (and this is because of the way cPanel does things--I have been "bitten" by this many times!!), each database has a (different) corresponding user in the mysql.user table (!!!). And (here's the surprising part)--each one of those databases will have a MATCHING ROW IN mysql.user!! In some of my earlier prototypes, the START/FLUSH-LOCK/SHOW/UNLOCK/STOP commands have allowed for "like" clauses at the end. Maybe I need to go that route? ALL of my prototypes have had binlogging PER DATABASE. I wonder how difficult/feasible/desirable/useful it would be to create separate binlog files for databases (or users) whose name matches a "like" clause. ... Probably more important: Would this feature be of general interest to the MySQL user community at large? (... and, if so, should it be database- or user- or database_pattern- or user_pattern-based). [Maria-discuss] Using MariaDB in production?

Hi! In February 2010, we released MariaDB 5.1. In November 2010, we released MariaDB 5.2. In a span of those months, we've seen a 4x increase in downloads of MariaDB. I've heard many stories of people running it on their blog, and there are people running it on single server instances. I myself run it on about six servers of mine in production... And Daniel will attest to running all the Monty Program infrastructure on MariaDB :) I'm curious to know where MariaDB is going. Where its getting installed. Are only software developers playing with it, or is it getting into production environments? Please don't hesitate to discuss it here on the maria-discuss mailing list so we can all get a better idea of where MariaDB is being used.
