[Maria-docs] 3-rd party tools docs
Hi all I would like to add to KB some info about 2 (great) tools: Shard Query and FlexViews. Shard Query is a sharding solution and FlexViews manages materialized views, both are written in PHP + SQL stored programs, BSD-new, copyright owner is Justin Swanhart: http://shardquery.com/ Since the KB contains info about some GUIs, I beleive that tools like these are appropriate too, but I think that some approval from the list is needed... Regards, Federico Razzoli

frankly, if it works with mariadb, it makes sense to have it in the KB. i'm sure that there are plenty of docs at shardquery.com as well, but if justin wanted to have the docs at the kb with the appropriate licensing, it would be great too. so no need to get any approvals from the list, go right ahead and create new content federico! (the initial kb goal was to be the knowledgebase for lots of database documentation; however it is still mostly just mariadb-centric, with the exception of the sql-99 book)

Yes it works on MariaDB. Glad to read that! Maybe, the fact that any tool working with MariaDB can be discussed in the KB could be more emphatized? I'm not sure that everyone knows. How and where to emphasize it is the big thing. I was updating https://mariadb.com/kb/en/about/ today and added some to the first paragraph to mention that the KB contains more than just information about MariaDB. I don't know how many people ever read that page, so I'm not sure how useful it will be. I think as we continue to add things to the KB, people will realize that there's more than just strictly MariaDB information here.
