A new version of CONNECT package was released, but you have still 10.1.9. The packages don't conflict, but versions are incompatible. Just run apt-get upgrade and CONNECT will work. I am using MariaDB 10.1.9 on Debian Jessie, with actual version mariadb-connect-engine. But when ha_connect.so plugin is loaded, server show error and dont load engine.
