[Maria-discuss] New Question: ARCHIVE equivalent
Hello, A new question has been asked in "MariaDB FAQ" by dumdummare: -------------------------------- What options are there to have a log table that is difficult to change but quick to search using criterias even during inserts? Something like an ARCHIVE with indicies or an InnoDB without UPDATE or DELETE. -------------------------------- To view or answer this question please visit: http://mariadb.com/kb/en/archive-equivalent/
Hi, I would suggest TokuDB, though you will have to enforce the "no updates" rule with permissions. Like ARCHIVE, TokuDB is compressing, but unlike ARCHIVE it is also MVCC and has tunable compression levels. I'd recommend an auto_increment to keep insertions in sorted PK order. The secondary keys (as long as they aren't unique) can be maintained /very/ efficiently in TokuDB, particularly if certain limitations with respect to binary logging are allowed. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the OP will never see these responses as the KB doesn't parse emails. You are supposed to login to the KB and answer there. Brian On 2/11/2014 1:46 PM, Justin Swanhart wrote:
