I assumed that you started your cluster empty, which might not be the case. If you have several gigabytes of data on the first node, you have to allow some time until rsync has finished copying the data to the other nodes. You can do that by tailing the error log of node 2 until the SYNCED state keyword appears. Also if I'm correct, you must have rsync running on the processlist of node 2.

Nope, the database is empty (I just created it with mysql_install_db; also all nodes are fresh installs).
