While compiling MariaDB on FreeBSD, I've noted that it can optionally be compiled with spinlocks instead of mutexes. What's the best choice? Any experience? Regards Federico

Yes, this option enables MariaDB "fast mutexes". They're disabled by default for years and completely removed in MySQL (5.7 or 5.6? - don't remember) and in MariaDB 10.2. Don't use them. Regards, Sergei Chief Architect MariaDB and security@mariadb.org
