Re: [Maria-discuss] [Maria-developers] [All] MariaDB's best (download) month ever

(this thread was originaly from maria-developpers) The mariadb.com/.org distinction is not really clear as both have a similar layout, designs and duplicate contents, plus distincting both sites from the sole TLD is not the most visible one ; i must admit that the first time i ended up on mariadb.com i thought at first that it was just the mariadb.org website that had a design update. Plus, there is a link to "mariadb.org" on the top menu of mariadb.com, a link to "Community" or "MariaDB Foundation" or a clear title would be better. Le 26/09/2013 10:39, Colin Charles a écrit :

hi guys, more one opnion 2013/9/26 Jean Weisbuch <jean@phpnet.org>
i had the same perception, a new design to mariadb.org instead of a new mariadb.com
maybe mariadb foundation is ok in my opnion, the problem is the ".com" what we should have is a clear division about mariadb.com => skysql, and mariadb.org => mariadb the main problem is the opensource community confusion, maybe someone blog will have the post of a mariadb enterprise edition (a download link at mariadb.com for example) and the mariadb edition (a download link at mariadb.org), like i told in some other mail I think that's not good for an opensource project Maybe add a logo of skysql at top of mariadb.com could solve this problem?! bye =) -- Roberto Spadim

Colin - it helps to explain how MariaDB got here. Where are we going? Will the foundation do something? WIll there be a different split between the .com and .org efforts? On Thu, Sep 26, 2013 at 5:51 AM, Roberto Spadim <roberto@spadim.com.br>wrote:

Roberto, Mark, your comments have been collected and collated and now its time to define things. Please bear with me as some things clearly have to get settled within SkySQL. The community will participate in the larger part of this discussion and I hope that it happens soon (i.e. within a week or two). It will take place here on maria-discuss. Mark, where are we going is a good question and again, thank you for keeping us in check. Its clear the Foundation needs to be involved and there has to be a different/more meaningful split between the com/org efforts. Time is required to fix what has been clearly executed for some time Please give this some breathing room and I endeavour to report back as soon as I can cheers, -colin -- Colin Charles, Chief Evangelist MariaDB | t: +6-012-204-3201 | Skype: colincharles

Thank you for this feedback. It is being collated now and will be acted upon in a timely fashion (more sooner rather than later) cheers, -colin -- Colin Charles, Chief Evangelist MariaDB | t: +6-012-204-3201 | Skype: colincharles
