MariaDB 5.2.4 tarball is missing the SphinxSE plug.in file in storage/sphinx. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, so I thought I might point it out.

Oops :-( Thanks a lot for pointing out this serious issue! I filed a bug for it (https://bugs.launchpad.net/maria/+bug/691437) and will push a fix to be included in 5.2.5. - Kristian.
