He doesn’t understand how TCP/IP and routed works, either: “I'd like it to only listen on a specific interface altogether.”
That’s okay. It’s been cheap entertainment for me! :-)
:-) however, it's heartwarming that someone who don't want anserws from humans types his questions not in a search engine like https://www.google.at/search?q=mysql+listen gicen that the first hit is not too bad... https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/mysql/switch-mysql-to-listen-on-tcp/

ok, the next will be "but i dont want it listen on 127.0.0.1 i want it to listen on eth2"
Can we keep this list usable for those who use it for a technical purpose? surely if guys which attack people with knowledge respect recommendations of expierienced sysadmins instead bitching around while asking noob questions or shut up at all esspecially that ones which always bitch around in the 2 topics which got a response at all and later follow the recommendations without saying any word of excuse "If your not familiar with openrc then you can't me of much use with regard to this question. There are to things that will never see the light of day on my server, systemd, and freedesktop.org I've seen already far too many security breakins of systemd" and two months later have the proposed config and recommend it to others is a joke either the guy learns to listen or to shut-up - i am not willing to start childish lists of "fools you should not respond to" -------- Weitergeleitete Nachricht -------- Betreff: Re: [Maria-discuss] MariaDB won't start after updating Fedora 26 to Fedora 27 Datum: Thu, 23 Nov 2017 13:48:02 -0500 Von: Ruben Safir <ruben@mrbrklyn.com> An: maria-discuss@lists.launchpad.net /var/run/mariabd is a temp directory created by the system on booting [ruben@www3 ~]$ cat /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/mariadb.conf d /run/mysqld 0755 mysql mysql - on my system _____________________ p.s.: not respond in HTML which leads to explode quotes in a proper for mailing list configured mail client using plaintext would be a good start for technical purpose

Raindi I've read these barely understandle rants from you before over the years and I can live without this week. I asked for something specific. If you have a contribution with regards to getting mysql to listen to a specfic port and interface, great. If not, you are really wasting everyones time, including your own. If you haven't figured out that no one with gonna crown you king of network security and ad hoc master of all internet configuration, then nothing in this conversation is going to change over 20 years of behavior.
BTW - we are not getting dragged into a systemd fight either.. sorry. On Tue, Jan 16, 2018 at 10:45:09AM -0500, Ruben Safir wrote:

Longing for peace ...the day I land a women as wonderful as you.... that would be the day. The sun might shine again, and the clouds roll back the ocean will calm, and the fish will be plentiful one will be able to look over the ridge and see the ocean in the haze. Seagulls will float gently into view, on a warm breeze, and bark their laughter at us , and the grass will grow green and soft, with nearly a weed or a thorn to sully your bare feet and I'll be able to put down my coffee and not drink from it again Time will suspend monetarily, and we will live in that very moment, forever, and never leave -- So many immigrant groups have swept through our town that Brooklyn, like Atlantis, reaches mythological proportions in the mind of the world - RI Safir 1998 http://www.mrbrklyn.com DRM is THEFT - We are the STAKEHOLDERS - RI Safir 2002 http://www.nylxs.com - Leadership Development in Free Software http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/resources - Unpublished Archive http://www.coinhangout.com - coins! http://www.brooklyn-living.com Being so tracked is for FARM ANIMALS and and extermination camps, but incompatible with living as a free human being. -RI Safir 2013

Actually, i came up with this early on, but I as hoping for someone to point out the parallel docs in maria https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/unix-linux-mysqld-server-bind-to-more-than-one... This is old and mysql... but probably still valid.

bind-address is a basic option https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/configuring-mariadb-for-remote-client-acce...

This is old and mysql... but probably still valid
and says "use a firewall" because a dameon either listens on a specific IP or 0.0.0.0
