Hi, The Galera upgrade instructions for MariaDB 10.4 -> 10.5 and 10.5 -> 10.6 are missing from the knowledge base. I reported this on this mailing list two weeks ago. I'm sorry to bump the thread without additional information, but I haven't found a definitive answer yet. The contents of almost all "Upgrading from MariaDB 10.x to MariaDB 10.x with Galera Cluster" knowledge base articles are the same, so I assume that there are no special steps for upgrading a Galera cluster from MariaDB 10.4 to 10.5 and from 10.5 to 10.6. Hi William, Agreed that the Galera cluster upgrade documentation really ought to be documented. Perhaps it should just be incorporated into the regular MariaDB server upgrade documentation, but it needs to be *somewhere* in the KB. In the meantime, you might find the FromDual instructions useful: https://fromdual.com/upgrading-from-mariadb-10.4-to-mariadb-10.5-galera-clus... The only surprise I remember from doing this upgrade myself was that on RHEL (and presumably derivative distros) the galera package was renamed from "galera" to "galera-4". And obviously watch out for deprecated / removed system variables, but those should be documented in the regular upgrade documentation. The upgrade process itself (which fromdual.com describes) is known. The point is that the KB articles under the "Upgrading Galera Cluster" category sometimes contain Galera-specific steps/notices that are not documented anywhere else. My educated guess is that the abscence of articles for these versions means that there are none, but as you said, these articles should exist nonetheless.
The only surprise I remember from doing this upgrade myself was that on RHEL (and presumably derivative distros) the galera package was renamed from "galera" to "galera-4".
And obviously watch out for deprecated / removed system variables, but those should be documented in the regular upgrade documentation.
As far as I can see, changes to 'wsrep_*' options are documented in the regular "Upgrading from MariaDB 10.x to MariaDB 10.x" articles.

I tried testing my assumption by upgrading a Galera cluster from 10.3.35 to 10.4, from 10.4 to 10.5, and from 10.5 to 10.6. This has succeeded. No special steps seem to be needed.
