Is it ready for production use?
Absolutely. TokuDB has been shipping in MariaDB 5.5 and MariaDB 10.0 for quite some time now. It's also available directly from Tokutek in MySQL 5.5 and MariaDB 5.5, as well as from Percona in Percona Server 5.6.
We are curious to know, what's the reason, it's not the default engine in MariaDB.
I'll leave this to someone from MariaDB. On Fri, Dec 12, 2014 at 4:05 AM, AskMonty KB <noreply@askmonty.org> wrote:

-------------------------------- We noticed, that MariaDB includes TokuDB engine too nowadays. We have read, that it should be more high-performance than the default one. We are curious to know, what's the reason, it's not the default engine in MariaDB. Is it ready for production use?
