Aug 6 12:24:24 testserver mysqld: 150806 12:24:24 [Note] /usr/libexec/mysqld (mysqld 10.0.20-MariaDB) starting as process 115096 ... why is this now stdout instead mysql logs? on systemd based distributions that spits now to the global syslog and finally on machines restarting 2 instances every hour for backup reasons it annoys until 10.0.19 or 10.0.20 that was not this way

[Maria-discuss] MDB 10.4+Galera build's wsrep-lib/.../*.so libs are built, but not installed? what step's missing?

I'm building MDB 10.4/head on linux64 Galera's set up for build, following https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/installing-galera-from-source/ The build/install has no apparent errors afterwards, checking build FAILs ./mysqld -V ./mysqld: error while loading shared libraries: libwsrep-lib.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ... To fix this here, cd <MDB SRC>/build /bin/cp -af \ ./wsrep-lib/src/libwsrep-lib.so \ ./wsrep-lib/wsrep-API/libwsrep_api_v26.so \ /usr/local/lib64/galera/ echo "/usr/local/lib64/galera" >> /etc/ld.so.conf.d/mariadb-custom.conf ldconfig now ./mysqld -V ./mysqld Ver 10.4.7-MariaDB-log for Linux on x86_64 (Source distribution) What additional 'standard build procedure' step is needed to get those "/wsrep-lib/.../*.so" correctly installed with, no manual intervention?

Hi, experts I don't really know where to ask this question in. And my question is with MariaDB....I would appreciate if somebody with a clear eye can quickly answer my question....appreciate it very much. My MariaDb is of this version: '10.1.38-MariaDB-0+deb9u1' My OS where mariadb is running is this: 'Linux d-bia-mysql-use1c-1 4.9.0-9-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.168-1+deb9u4 (2019-07-19) x86_64 GNU/Linux' I just want to do this ALTER USER 'user1'@'localhost' WITH MAX_USER_CONNECTIONS 0; And I am getting syntax error: Error Code: 1064. You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near 'USER 'user1'@'localhost' WITH MAX_USER_CONNECTIONS 0' at line 1 What did I do wrong? I'm working on Encryption at Rest in MDB 10.4, looking for an on-premise key rotation solution. Back in 2016, there was a discussion on ML, https://lists.launchpad.net/maria-discuss/msg05031.html Another possibility would be to add key rotation support to the file_key_management plugin. It is easier than it sounds - this plugin is quite simple. OTOH, it seems that Percona has a plugin https://www.percona.com/doc/percona-server/5.7/management/data_at_rest_encr… that works with Hashicorp Vault's KV (old) v1 engine, KV Secrets Engine - Version 1 https://www.vaultproject.io/docs/secrets/kv/kv-v1.html There's also a v2, KV Secrets Engine - Version 2 https://www.vaultproject.io/docs/secrets/kv/kv-v2.html and, encryption with rotation can be deployed as a service Encryption as a Service: Transit Secrets Engine https://learn.hashicorp.com/vault/encryption-as-a-service/eaas-transit but I haven't found examples of either of the latter two options working with Percona. Is there a modern/current key-rotation solution for MDB other than AWS? Similar in capability to Percona's, and preferably, self-hosted/on-premise?

On a system with skip-external-locking = ON, why would I ever see a thread state of "System lock" on a MyISAM table? This documentation: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/general-thread-states/ suggests that "... MyISAM storage engine uses file-based locks. However, MyISAM's external locks are disabled by default ...", which makes me think I shouldn't see them. Last night at one point I had several threads stacked up in "System lock" status and trying to get to the bottom of it. It's 10.3.14, if it makes a difference. Thanks, Dan

Hi all, I've been having some issues attempting to cross compile MariaDB 10.4.6 for ARMv5. I always get to a certain point, and it tries to compile storage/mroonga/vendor/groonga/lib/CMakeFiles/libgroonga.dir/ts/ts_util.c.o.
