[Maria-discuss] Compiling 5.5.20 on OS X

I've been compiling MySQL and MariaDB on OS X for quite some time now, but this is the first time that I have ever used CMake to build an application. The 'make' step consistently fails with the following: Linking CXX executable ma_pagecache_consist_1k-t Undefined symbols for architecture x86_64: "_key_PAGECACHE_cache_lock", referenced from: _init_pagecache in libaria.a(ma_pagecache.c.o) ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture x86_64 I assume libaria.a is Maria specific. As a sanity check, I downloaded the MySQL source code for 5.5.21 from the MySQL site and I successfully compiled everything with CMake. Has anyone else successfully compiled a 64 bit 5.5.20 MariaDB on OS X? What am I missing?

These docs are excellent -- http://kb.askmonty.org/en/dynamic-columns How do you fetch all name-value pairs from a dynamic column in a format that can be consumed by a client? The client can select the column as is but then must know how mariadb encoded it. The function column_list returns the column names. If there were a function that encoded all name-value pairs as JSON, then the client could do something like this and be able to decode the result: select column_json(dynamic_column_name) from t where ... -- Mark Callaghan mdcallag(a)gmail.com

I'm getting a strange error with 5.5.22 (and 5.5.21) in the test runs. plugins.unix_socket [ fail ] Test ended at 2012-03-30 11:16:46 CURRENT_TEST: plugins.unix_socket mysqltest: At line 15: Can't initialize replace from 'replace_result $USER USER' The result from queries just before the failure was: install plugin unix_socket soname 'auth_socket.so'; # # with named user # Is this a test program issue? We are hitting a wrong ordering in 5.2.10 but it does not happen on a test box using 5.3 series (tried 5.3.3 and 5.3.5). The query can be rewritten and when we do, the range becomes an index scan and produces the correct results.
