These docs are excellent -- http://kb.askmonty.org/en/dynamic-columns How do you fetch all name-value pairs from a dynamic column in a format that can be consumed by a client? The client can select the column as is but then must know how mariadb encoded it. The function column_list returns the column names. If there were a function that encoded all name-value pairs as JSON, then the client could do something like this and be able to decode the result: select column_json(dynamic_column_name) from t where ... -- Mark Callaghan mdcallag(a)gmail.com

[Maria-discuss] MariaDB 5.2.7 to 5.2.9 changes new bugs ?

First time posting to this list :) I've been using MariaDB since 5.2.4 for everyone of my side projects without issues. But having a problem while playing with Tungsten Replicator based replication. All worked fine with MariaDB 5.2.7 but since upgrading to MariaDB 5.2.9 via rpm on CentOS 6.0 64bit, I have been having problems getting Tungsten Replicator to play nice. Logged a bug report at http://code.google.com/p/tungsten-replicator/issues/detail?id=256 and the Tungsten Replicator folks say it could be possibly a problem with newer MariaDB 5.2.9 release ? Not sure who I should be contacting or whether or not MariaDB folks have already been made aware of this issue ? cheers

Can anyone give me any ideas on how to get a proper start. I am trying to connect to the localdb server created by heidi, which is a tcp/ip . [Maria-discuss] PlanetMariaDB glitch - resolved

Hi all This morning planetmariadb.org would show no feeds and no content. Config and db was all fine, and an agressive clearing of the rss/output cache appears to have resolved the issue. Not sure what caused the problem though, which is annoying. By the way, if you do spot a problem, please shoot me an email - don't just leave a msg on #maria as that can be missed. thanks! [Maria-discuss] New KB Question: CentOS 5.x/6.x mysql-lib conflicts and postfix

A new question has been posted to the Knowledgebase: http://kb.askmonty.org/en/centos-5x6x-mysql-lib-conflicts-and-postfix ======================================================================= On a fresh CentOS 5.x/6.x 32bit or 64bit install, mysql 5.0.xx is installed. To install MariaDB 5.2.x rpms, mysql-lib needs to be removed for MariaDB-server to be installed. But removing mysql-lib via yum remove, removes postfix. If later you need to install postfix via yum it still requires mysql-lib, but installing mysql-lib installs mysql 5.0.x server again. yum install postfix Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * base: mirror.averse.net * extras: mirror.averse.net * rpmforge: apt.sw.be * updates: mirror.averse.net Setting up Install Process Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package postfix.x86_64 2:2.6.6-2.1.el6_0 set to be updated --> Processing Dependency: mysql-libs for package: 2:postfix-2.6.6-2.1.el6_0.x86_64 --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: 2:postfix-2.6.6-2.1.el6_0.x86_64 (updates) Requires: mysql-libs You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest Anyway to properly resolve this ? with MariaDB 5.2/5.3.x version of mysql-lib ?? ======================================================================= Thanks. -- Daniel Bartholomew MariaDB - http://mariadb.org Monty Program - http://montyprogram.com AskMonty Knowledgebase - http://kb.askmonty.org
