Re: [Maria-developers] Calll for testing: MariaDB 5.5.32 packages
2013/8/23 Сергей Войтович <svojtovich@gmail.com>:
thanks for packaging MariaDB. I did a few basic tests with your packages and I confirm that they work well. The only minor note I have is that I was asked for root password 3x during installation, which is a bit too much.
Thanks! I haven't noticed any extra password asking during installation. It should ask for MariaDB root password in two screens, and of course if you run sudo apt-get it will ask once for your user password in the beginning. Could you clarify a little what happened in you installation?
Hi Otto, I meant it requested to change MariaDB root password 3x: <quot> Configuring mariadb-server-5.5 While not mandatory, it is highly recommended that you set a password for the MariaDB administrative "root" user. If this field is left blank, the password will not be changed. New password for the MariaDB "root" user: </quot> I did: apt-get install mariadb-test And left password blank all 3 times. Btw, why is it expected to ask this password in two scenes? I thought one should be enough. Thanks, Sergey 23.08.2013, в 14:06, Otto Kekäläinen <otto@fsfe.org> написал(а):

I tested it now and this is how it works if the password is *blank*. This I think is the intended behaviour in debconf - as the value is left blank, it will be asked again when certain packages are unpacked that query for that debconf value. If however you set a password, then the dialog will not appear again.
Hi Otto, ok, no problems if that's intended. Thanks a lot again! Regards, Sergey 23.08.2013, в 15:45, Otto Kekäläinen <otto@fsfe.org> написал(а):
