[Maria-developers] Student looking to contribute to MariaDB
Hello everybody, I am a third year student looking to contribute towards MariaDB for the upcoming Google Summer of Code program. I am very proficient in C++, Java, Python and Scheme. I have done some projects in machine learning as well as NLP. My exposure to databases is limited to an undergraduate course on Database systems. What level of knowledge would I need to contribute to the project? What sort of project would be appropriate for my skill set? Thank you, Rishab Jaju.

We have no idea if we will be accepted yet, but we are definitely going to apply

We have as always got a few resources that you can take a look at: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/community-contributing-to-the-mariadb-proj... And when you are ready to contribute code: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/contributing-code/ And we do tag things with “gsoc” in Jira: https://mariadb.atlassian.net/issues/?jql=labels%20%3D%20gsoc15 https://mariadb.atlassian.net/issues/?jql=labels%20%3D%20gsoc14 https://mariadb.atlassian.net/issues/?jql=labels%20%3D%20gsoc13 We haven’t done the gsoc16 tag yet, but that’s when we get accepted I hope the above resources are helpful to you Kind Regards, Colin Charles -- Colin Charles, http://bytebot.net/blog/ twitter: @bytebot | skype: colincharles "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." -- Mohandas Gandhi
