I have tried to install mariadb-server on Debian Testing AMD64. I got
the error message

... :( I get the same message, if I try to install mysql-server from
Debian's repository ... :(

The error message appears nearly at the end of the installation ... :(

I do not know, sorry ... :( But maybe it is possible to check first, if
mysql- or mariadb-server was installed before, and if it was, stop it.
If it was not installed before, than it should not try to stop the
server ... ;)
