What do I need to change in my storage engine for extended keys? Where should I look? Thanks.
Hi, see the code /* Currently only InnoDB can use extended keys */ share->set_use_ext_keys_flag(legacy_db_type == DB_TYPE_INNODB); in open_binary_frm(), table.cc (mariadb) You have to change it. There is a similar code in mysql, also in open_binary_frm(),table.cc Regards, Igor.

MySQL 5.6.9 changed how the number of key parts are measured. They replaced one simple counter (key_parts) with four counters. Glancing at the code, i assume that this was done to support extended keys. If so, the mariadb implementation of extended keys is a lot simpler. We have to maintain the tokudb storage engine on both mysql and mariadb. Is the mariadb design going to change to match the 5.6 implementation, or are the designs now separate? Thanks Rich Prohaska
Hi,
MariaDB supports extended keys starting with first version of 5.5. See https://kb.askmonty.org/en/extended-keys/.

The interesting thing is that Oracle essentially pulled MariaDB implementation for this feature into a mysql version that was in RC. Yet one hardly can find anything about the feature in the changelog or in the manual.
