Like all Open Source projects, MariaDB thrives because of the community
around it. We've been asked on many occasions "What can I do to help?"
and we direct people to our "Contributing" page in the MariaDB
Knowledgebase as a good starting point:
https://kb.askmonty.org/en/contributing
The above page lists various ways to contribute to MariaDB including
obvious things like helping with development, reporting bugs, creating
test cases, helping with documentation and translation, and so on.
For those who want to support the project but don't have software
development or other technical skills to offer, we have a donations
page:
https://kb.askmonty.org/en/donations
This page details how you can donate things like CPU time to run a
buildslave, among other things. It also, by request, includes a PayPal
donate button for those who prefer to support MariaDB that way.
The PayPal button is great, but we thought it would be nice for people
who donate to get something physical in return. Inspired by the EFF,
NPR, PBS, and other non-profit entities, we thought it would be neat to
create a donations page that offered an exclusive t-shirt or other item
in return for a donation. One of the quickest ways to do this is
through CafePress, so that's what we've done:
http://www.cafepress.com/mariadb
Please check it out and let us know what you think!*
All proceeds go directly to support MariaDB development, so don't think
of it as purchasing a t-shirt, think of it as donating to support a
worthy project and awesome product... and you get a t-shirt as a nice
bonus!
Thanks.

The MariaDB project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of
MariaDB Galera Cluster 5.5.25 Alpha. This is an Alpha release.
What is it?
* A straight merge of MariaDB 5.5.25 with Galera Cluster by Codership
* An alpha release which should not be used in production environments
* Using the Galera replication methodology, users get:
* Synchronous, multi-master replication with guaranteed data
consistency.
* This solution provides both read & write scalability
The links below have more information.
Compatibility?
MariaDB Galera Cluster is fully data-compatible with MariaDB or
MySQL, as it will work with the standard databases created by these
products. There are next to none or very minimal application changes
that are required to make the solution work.
Where can I get it?
See the links below.
What's next?
The plan is for a rapid release cycle to heavily test the performance
and usage of MariaDB Galera Cluster in different environments. Please
file bugs at: https://mariadb.atlassian.net
Quotes:
Seppo Jaakola, CEO for Codership
"It's great that we are working closely with an upstream provider
of a MySQL-compatible binary, MariaDB. We no longer have to spend
time coding against out-of-tree changes as we're part of MariaDB.
The excellent MariaDB engineering team constantly releases new
versions of MariaDB with high quality assurance (QA). Codership
will continue to collaborate closely with the MariaDB engineering
team to improve the product and make new versions of the MariaDB
Galera Cluster available."
Michael "Monty" Widenius, CEO for Monty Program Ab
"We've received a significant amount of requests for a MariaDB
based Galera cluster and today we're proud to deliver that. We're
currently preparing ourselves and our partners for a rollout of
the GA product and related professional services via SkySQL to
run critical systems on top of MariaDB Galera Cluster."
The MariaDB Team will together with Codership work on customer requests
and demands in the areas of cluster and replication. Please contact us
if you are interested in any services we can offer around Galera,
MariaDB or MySQL. http://montyprogram.com/contact
